Stan by Eminem

This is my favorite Eminem song. It tells the story of a fan who writes to Eminem but doesn't get a response quick enough and kills himself. Stan, the person writing the letter to Eminem, talks about how he relates to Eminem's music and it helps him get through the day. I relate to almost everything Stan talks about to Em in his letters, besides some messed up stuff. I hope this song has helped other people as much it has helped me.

Heart of a Lion by KiD CuDi

This song is all about pushing forward and living your dreams. CuDi talks about how he kept his heart strong and didn't let anyone tell him what to do and became successful. He makes the point that perseverance is the key to success.

Three Little Birds by Bob Marley

Three Little Birds has a simple message but has a lot of feeling to it. Marley is talking about how beautiful things in nature helps relax the mind and do away with some of the stress of the day. I always listen to this song when things in my life get a little hectic.

Day 'N' Nite by KiD CuDi

This song is about someone who cannot rest at night. There are many things running through the person's head and he can't seem to sort out his priorities. He also talks of his loneliness and non-conformity.

Spaces We Leave Empty by Cathy Song

While I do not have a solid understanding of the meaning of this poem is was very well wrote. It uses a lot of imagery and personification. This is the first poem I do not understand but respectfully enjoyed.

Aunt Jennifer's Tigers by Adrienne Rich

This is a very abstract poem. I am afraid I do not follow this guy's thought process at all.

O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN! by Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman wrote and recited this poem at Abraham Lincoln's funeral. It is a very powerful poem and was wrote for one of America's most influential presidents. This poem is an American classic.
